Summit Parkview Hotel expansion project

The expansion of Summit Parkview hotel will be completed in 2017 according to the general manager Vivian Chan quoted in the Myanmar Times.

The number of rooms in this four-star hotel was 251 rooms and will be added 157 roomsplus a ballroom that can accommodate 600 people, serviced apartments, a swimming pool, a gym, a spa, and a new restaurant and bar.

The country’s economic and political transition starting in 2011 attracted huge numbers of tourists, sending the prices of the relatively small number of hotel rooms at the time soaring.

Over the past five years thousands more hotel rooms have been built in Yangon, Mandalay, Naypyitaw and tourist attractions, bringing prices back down to some extent. High prices and political uncertainty, however, have slowed growth in tourist visitors, particularly those on packages.

Parkview has already reduced its room prices to remain competitive, Ms Chan said.
