This cultural tour will take you to from Mandalay to Bagan exploring Po Win Taung temple caves, Thanboudday and Boddhi Tataung pagodas. Time permitting we will also visit spirulina lake near Monywa where the valuable spirulina is being cultivated.
You can travel southbound or northbound this itinerary. Overnight stop in Monywa is necessary.
DAY 1: MANDALAY – MONYWA
After breakfast at the hotel, we drive 150km/3hrs west to MONYWA, a journey that takes us across the Ayeyarwaddy River and through peaceful country side. Enroute to Monywa, we visit the BODHI TATAUNG “Buddha Park”, the site of world’s tallest Buddha statue at 128m high.
Also of interest is the 114m long reclining Buddha and the tens of thousands smaller Buddhas donated to the site by devout Burmese pilgrims. We continue the drive to the peculiar yet colorful THANBOUDDAY PAGODA, regarded by some people as the “Little Burmese Borobudur”.
It’s galleries are filled with over 582,000 Buddha images in all sizes, lending the hall a meditative atmosphere. The remainder of the day is open for guests to relax and unwind.

DAY 2: MONYWA – HPO WIN DAUNG – PAKOKKU – BAGAN
After breakfast at the hotel, we cross the Chindwin River and drive 1hr to HPO WIN TAUNG LIMESTONE MOUNTAIN, containing hundreds of cave temples with mural paintings that date back to the 15th century.
Enroute to Hpo Win Taung, a stop is made at local cottage industry workshop to learn how copper is extracted from the local soil and processed into copper bullion’s. We transfer 3,5 hrs to PAKOKKU to embark on a river journey on the Ayeyerwaddy (Irrawaddy) to BAGAN (end with DMC service).
