This 3-day moderate challenge trekking tour will take you through Taungyoe, PaO and Danu minorities region to the scenic western shore of the Inle Lake. En route you will stop in many villages, cross valleys, climb over and around gentle Shan hills. Our accommodation during the trek is in local villages, either in local houses or in monasteries that provide simple facilities. During the trek you will have opportunity to mingle with the local villagers, monks and school kids and make new friends and experience the best of Kalaw region.

After breakfast pick up from your hotel in Kalaw at 8.30am. We start with couple hours trek heading west to Ywathit Palaung village traversing slopes covered with tea plantations and seasonal crops cultivation. Further 15 minutes walk takes us to Ta Yaw Palaung minority village a Tanaphet growing community. Tanaphet leaves are used for rolling Burmese cigars “cheroots”. Our lunch stop will be at viewpoint half an hour walk away. Packed lunch will be served. After lunch, trek to Taung Yoe minority village Myin Daik. On the way we pass through Hintha Gone Danu tribe village. Myin Daik is situated along the Shwe Nyaung – Kalaw railway track and is a minor transportation hub for local produce sent to the regional markets. We stay overnight in Taung Yoe minority village of Yaw Pu, a short trek away from Myin Daik. Dinner and accommodation will be in a local house where we spend time socializing with the villagers.

Breakfast at the home stay in Yaw Pu village. Today we travel east towards the Inle Lake passing through Pao minority region. Enjoy the leisurely trek through beautiful valleys and gentle hills and farms growing garlic, wheat, cabbages and other seasonal crop. During our hike we pass through Taung Yoe, Pao and Danu villages and take a lunch break in one of the villages. In the afternoon trek to Pao village of Pattupauk where we can see traditional bamboo basket’s weaving. Overnight stay in a local monastery in Hti Tein Village.

Hti Thein monastery

Breakfast at the monastery and early morning departure. Our trail today ascends forested mountain to Kyauk Su, Pao minority, village climbing up steep slopes to the mountain peak rewarding us with beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding region. Rest of the journey to Inle Lake is mostly downhill. En route we pass through Nguk Pao and Inn Thar peoples village and gradually start getting closer to the blue oasis of Inle Lake resting down in the bottom of the wide lake valley sided by mountain ranges. Our trail descends and brings us to Inn Thein village
through deep river valley, lush green mountains, bamboo grooves and a creek feeding waters to the lake. Visit the centuries old Inn Thein pagoda complex with hundreds of stupas perched on a hill side. From Inn Thein board a private boat and travel along the winding creek through paddy fields to the lake and to your hotel on lake or on shore.
