Our Loikaw tour is four days journey from Inle Lake to Loikaw in Kayah State. You will enjoy relaxing boat trip to the Southern part of Inle, explore Samkar, long neck Karen villages, limestone cave, local markets and highlights of Loikaw region which only recently has been opened for tourism.

The tour starts from Nyaung Shwe or from your hotel on the Inle Lake. We navigate 3hrs South to Sagar to explore ancient pagoda ruins, located on the shores of the lake and stop in a pottery village to learn how local palm wine “toddy” is produced.

From Phekon we transfer overland to Loikaw, the slow paced capital of Kayah state. Basing ourselves in Loikaw we make day visits to Padaung ‘long neck’ ladies villages, discover Shan chieftain’s heritage, explore a recently opened limestone cave with impressive stalactites, and enjoy magical sunset over the city from a view point.

After Pick up from your hotel at Inle Lake or Nyaung Shwe you can begin a magnificent 3hr boat journey to SAGAR (Sankar), a site of over 100 Buddhist stupas rising from the lake. From Sagar we journey to Thar Yar Gone Pao tribe village to study local ‘moonshine’ rice wine production.

Our journey continues to Sae Haung pottery village and to Phekon from where we drive 1.5hrs to Loikaw capital city of Kayah state. At the evening Enjoying magical sunset from the top of the impressive Taung Kwe Zedi, a cluster of stupas and walk ways built on majestic limestone karst mountains.

After breakfast at the hotel we drive to Demawso market where different tribal folks come to trade their produce. Our visits today include meeting Padaung “long neck Karen’ ladies wearing traditional brass rings on their neck and on other parts of their bodies.

After getting a glimpse of this unique tradition we continue to Shan chieftain’s, Haw of Loikaw, palace currently used as a Buddhist monastery. We complete the day with visits to Kayah State Museum and time allowing explore the recently opened Kyet Limestone cave 15km outside of Loikaw.

After breakfast at hotel drive to Pinlaung for a morning market visit. Our 6hr journey travels from Loikaw to Kalaw passing through rolling Shan plateau landscapes, orange and tea plantations. We will enjoy a simple lunch en-route in a local restaurant.

Just before reaching Kalaw we will pass Myin Ma Hti limestone cave housing eclectic collection of Buddha images. After interesting day way stop for overnight stay in Kalaw.

Now a sleepy hill station town, Kalaw used to be popular town with the British during colonial rule,
