Mogok

More secret than Mecca and harder to access than Lhasa, in Joseph Kessel’s own words… at the heart of the mountains of the north of Myanmar, the valley of Mogok has produced the most beautiful rubies in the world in the past centuries and inspired the most extravagant legends. Recently reopened to the adventurous visitor, Mogok reveals open pit mines, its famous gemstone market and mysterious misty hilltops. Thank you for noticing that Mogok is reopened to foreigners since dec. 13. The hotel and restaurant infrastructure remains very limited.
