About Our Founder
Mika Itavaara, the visionary behind Discovery DMC, is one of the leading experts on Southeast Asia with 30 years of experience. After serving as a country director for a leading DMC group, he founded Discovery DMC to focus on experiential and authentic travel beyond the usual tourism centers. His deep understanding of the region and extensive industry connections enable him to craft seamless, exclusive, and unforgettable journeys.

With a distinguished track record, Mika and Discovery DMC have organized trips for top CEOs, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), National Geographic photographers, film crews, anthropologists, biologists, and travel writers, among many others providing access to some of Asia’s most remote and untouched destinations. We are also a premier organizer of incentive travel and corporate delegations, having played a pivotal role in facilitating high-level business delegations for Mika’s native country, Finland.
We were also proud to host the Asia Xchange Conference in Bangkok in 2024, where world leaders and key stakeholders gathered to discuss climate change, the planet’s future, and sustainable solutions.
