800 islands Mergui Archipelago has opened for tourism. All eyes are on Mergui islands. Could this be the next Maldives in making?
If you haven’t heard of Mergui Archipelago. No panic, most of the people haven’t, yet. This is only the beginning of Mergui Islands new chapter. For 50-years this incredible island chain was off limits to visitors. With the recent opening of the country southern Myanmar and Mergui have become more accessible and better connected. The government is even working on extending Kawthaung airport to welcome international flights and some of the island developers are planning sea planes and helicopters to transport their luxury guests.
Wild and remote – Only a few of the islands are populated and most are covered in thick forests. Mergui islands come in all sizes and shapes some with steep hills and cliffs, others with sheltered bays and powdery white sand beaches and coral reefs perfect for snorkeling and diving.
We have listed here the best ways to experience the beauty of the archipelago.
Mergui Yachting and Sailing Journeys – A great way to experience the paradise islands is to charter own yacht or join a sailing yacht or diving boat where professional crew will look after you and keep dishing out one amazing location after another and spoiling you with great meals.
