When tourists first started coming to Inle Lake they were put up in the house of U Ohn Maung and Daw Khin Than Nwe, then the only family able to speak English. Years later, in 1976 they opened the first and for ten years the only guest house in Nyaung Shwe.
In 1998, we opened the Inle Princess in a quiet inlet on the eastern shore of the lake, still then one of the first hotels on the lake.
A boutique style luxury chalet resort built partially on the lake on stilts and on the shore, the Inle Princess Resort is impeccably decorated in a regional style that captivates. With an emphasis on local culture, IPR exhibits the best of Shan culture.
Constructed entirely of wood, its chalet suites uphold the highest standards in the Inle Lake region.
IPR is the most stylish choice of accommodation on the lake. The hotel has a NO-NOISE policy: No TV’s are found in the rooms, and all approaching boats must switch off their engines 200 meters from the resort in order to safeguard guests’ peace and tranquility.
Location: On the eastern shore of the Inle Lake near Ma Gyi Sin Village. 20 minutes by boat ride from Nyaung Shwe.
Room Amenities: The simple yet elegant chalets are adorned with traditionally crafted furnishings and locally woven cotton bedspreads. All chalets feature the following amenities: shower and bathtub, mini bar, hair dryer, IDD phone. In addition, they have a cosy yet spacious living area and a private balcony/terrace with its own particular view.
The bed is usually positioned in the centre of the chalet beneath a high vaulted ceiling; the front panoramic view window floods the living and sleeping area with light. Because each wooden chalet was uniquely built, the size of the room may vary even in the same category.
The 26 Lake View Chalets (between 41 to 63 sqm) all have a lake view. The 9 Private Lake Chalets (between 49 to 64 sqm) have the same amenities but have view over a man small lake inside the resort complex.
The 10 Mountain View chalets (41 to 43 sqm) have the same amenities as the above but have a Mountain View. The Princess Chalet is the largest chalet in the hotel (70 sqm), it has lake view, a DVD player and a Jacuzzi bathtub.
Facilities: Dining room and splendid terrace overlooking the lake serving local specialities, Myanmar, Chinese, Thai and western cuisine. The bar is the meeting point of the resort. There is also a souvenir shop and a wine cellar.
Sport & Spa: Recently opened Spa with Sauna and a wide range of pampering treatments.
