GILI ISLANDS Travel Guide
Where the ocean sparkles in every shade of blue and island life moves to the rhythm of the waves—escape to the Gili Islands, where barefoot luxury meets timeless tranquility.
The Gili Islands are easily accessible from Bali and Lombok. The most popular way is by fast boat from Bali, departing from Padang Bai or Serangan, with travel times ranging from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on sea conditions and departure point. Alternatively, travelers can fly into Lombok International Airport, then take a 1.5-hour drive to Bangsal Harbour, followed by a 15–30 minute boat ride to the Gilis. Private speedboat transfers from Lombok to the islands are also available for a more comfortable and direct experience.
There are no cars or motorbikes on the Gili Islands, preserving their serene and eco-friendly atmosphere. The primary modes of transport are bicycles, which can be rented easily, and cidomos (small horse-drawn carts) for carrying luggage or a more relaxed ride. Walking is also a popular and enjoyable way to explore, as each island is small and easy to navigate on foot—especially Gili Meno and Gili Air. For island-hopping, small local boats or private charters offer quick and scenic transfers between the three Gilis.
