Myanmar travel news update 27 Aug 2023

Myanmar visas: Evisa is available for arrivals through RGN, MDL airport and the Kawthaung land border in the South which is the gateway to the Mergui Islands. Local insurance is no longer required when applying but all tourists are required to have valid travel insurance.

Myanmar cruises: Sanctuary Ananda and Anawrahta luxury cruises are back in operation from Sept 2023 onwards. Travelling between Mandalay and Bagan.

Ballooning:  All 4 ballooning companies are back in business in Bagan from November onwards.

Myanmar hotel and resort openings: Boutique luxury hotels Governor’s Residence and Excelsior Hotel are re-opening in November 2023. All Mergui Archipelago private island resorts will reopen for business this coming November. Ngapali Beach resorts will reopen after the rainy season Oct/Nov and ready to welcome international guests.

Myanmar flights: Best connections to Myanmar are from Bangkok for the time being. There are many daily flights at very affordable prices. Domestic flight routings have been adapted to service local traffic needs during and after COVID-19 but are likely to return to normal with tourism recovery.
