E-visa Scheme to be Extended to 6 More Points of Entry

The Myanmar Ministry of Immigration & Population has announced that they will begin to issue E-visas to 6 more points of entry into Myanmar. The E-visa scheme is currently available only to tourists entering Myanmar through Yangon International Airport. The scheme will be extended to tourists entering the country through Mandalay & Naypyiday international airports as well as four over land border crossings along Myanmars border with Thailand. However, there has been no statement regarding when these extensions to the E-visa scheme will be implemented.

The e-visa service can be found online at the following link. A single-entry e-visa costs US$50, will be stamped on arrival and is valid for 28 days. A color passport sized photo and details for a return ticket need to be provided during the application process. Once the application is complete, an acknowledgment email with a reference code is sent to the applicant. The application should take approximately five days to process after which an approval letter is sent to the applicant.
