Construction of the luxury Peninsula Hotel Yangon has commenced in downtown Yangon as part of the Yoma Central real estate development project. Yoma Central is a large scale mixed-use real estate project located on 10 acres of prime land in downtown Yangon. The project is being overseen by First Myanmar Investment (FMI) and will involve over US$600 million of investment.
The Peninsula Hotel Yangon will be located in the old Burma Railways Headquarters. It is one of the oldest heritage buildings in the city dating back to the 1880s. The historic building will be renovated and repurposed to house the new Peninsula Hotel and will likely become an iconic architectural landmark. The mixed-use project will also include a Peninsula branded luxury residency, office towers and serviced apartments.
