Major renovations are currently underway on the main structure at the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.
A new layer of gold leaves is being applied to the structure and therefore the entire pagoda is currently covered in bamboo scaffolding. However, the pagoda complex is still open and visitors can still experience this amazing attraction including its many smaller pagodas, shrines and other places of worship. The renovations are expected to last until January 2015.
