

Myanmar and Thailand have agreed on plans to build road access between Loikaw to Mae Hong Son. After the road is finished it will only take 4 hours to travel through Kayah state to Mae Hong Son. With the recent peace talks between Myanmar government and ethnic minority groups traveling to border regions have been relaxed gradually though many restrictions remain and special permits may be required to go east of Loikaw for the time being. This could become new interesting route for overland tourism between Chiangmai and Inle Lake.
