Phi Phi Islands picture perfect Maya Bay which was featured in Leonardo Di Caprio’s beach movie is opening again on 1 Jan 2022 after 3,5yrs environmental rejuvenation. Victim of it’s own fame Maya Bay received thousands of tourists daily resulting damage to corals and the national park environment. The corals in front of the bay remain protected and boats will not be allowed to approach the beach anymore from the bay area. The parks authorities have built better facilities to cope with future tourism and will limit the number of daily visitors. Access to Maya Bay will be through new jetty at Loh Samah Bay on the opposite side of the island.
